Wella Kolestint 3/66 Darkest Burgundy

Standard

I have had straight hair since the time I was born. I went to school, college and now working and I find this straight hair of mine really boring. Even a haircut tends to look the same after four days as my straight hair come back to their normal shape and texture. I decided to color my hair at home. As a working professional, I didn’t want a noticeable difference, so I decided to color my hair burgundy with the Wella Kolestint color kit that I received from Procter & Gamble during their promotions. Today I am going to review this at home hair color kit.

Price: Rs 519 but I got it for free…Also available on flipkart.com for Rs 489

Shade: 3/66 darkest burgundy

My experience with the product:

Wella Kolestint hair color kit comes with a pre-color conditioner which needs to be applied all over the hair prior to coloring your hair. This makes the hair damp which actually makes it easier to deal with the hair. By this I mean that this dampness in the hair helps in even application of the color all over and helps in non-messy application of the hair color. Upon immediate application of the color, there is a strong odour but it subsides in minutes. There is an easy 3 step process mentioned on the back of the cover.

When I kept the color on for 40 mins, it did not cause any itching or any kind of irritation to my scalp at all. I washed my hair and allowed it to dry naturally. I noticed that my hair was shinier and felt healthier. I had used the post conditioner which seems to have done wonders to my hair. While writing this review, I have had my 2nd hair wash (post coloring) without the post conditioner this time and my hair continue to look shiny and healthy. I can tell that the formulation of the contents does no harm to the hair or scalp.

Also, the size of the kit is such that it does not cause any wastage in the product. The quantity is perfect for 1 application for shoulder length fine to normal hair. If your hair is longer or thicker, you may need another kit.

Tips:

  1. If you have thin and fine hair like me, then bend and turn your head upside down and apply the color along the strands of the hair and tie a top bun on the head after coloring all the strands of the hair. This will prevent the color transferring onto your skin.
  2. Also, apply a bit of petroleum jelly on the forehead and ears to prevent the color transfer.

Will I repurchase?

Yes, definitely but I will choose the color wisely. If you have sensitive scalp or an amateur at coloring your hair, then Wella Kolestint is your best bet.
