I was looking for a mask that is great for summer time on my combination to normal skin. I have been wanting to try the Queen Helene Mint Julep Mask and instantly bought it. This is the first time I am using this and read below to know my thoughts.
Price: $4 approximately
Quantity: 8 Oz/ 227 gms
My thoughts on the product:
When I applied it, the first thought that came to my mind was ‘is it a toothpaste’? The moment you apply this light green colored mask, there is a cool feeling on your skin and it also has a faint minty smell to it that makes you think it’s a version of toothpaste. But as it begins to dry up you can smell sulphur which is not overpowering and doesn’t make you feel uncomfortable in any way. I think it is this ingredient that actually helps in treating acne. The best thing about this product is it doesn’t have a tingly cold feeling on your skin that some mint products have which almost numbs your skin. I steer clear from those kind of products. Mint Julep mask just cools down your skin especially if you have been out in that sweltering heat. This mask has definitely contributed in clearing up my acne as it helps treat acne by controlling the skin’s oiliness and shrinking the pores. I usually leave this on my skin for more than 15 minutes. And it doesn’t dry up my skin or anything of that sort. I feel it works better when I leave it for about 30 to 45 minutes. I sometimes apply it on my acne spots and leave it overnight. It does a great job in clearing up those acne spots as it aids in drying them up and drawing out the impurities that causes acne. All in all, wearing this mask is a treat as it leaves you rejuvenated. All you girls out there with normal to combination skin and acne should definitely give this a try. Girls with dry skin and acne can try spot treating acne with this mask. It’s a basic mask that does what it claims to do.
- Comes in a squeeze tube – hygienic and prevents from drying up
- Availability is not an issue
- Easy to use
- Great for acne skin
- No tingling or cold sensation on skin although it contains mint
- A lot of product for the price
Nothing at all as I absolutely love this!!
Will you repurchase? Yes, I will. I am also interested in trying the mud pack after this.
Toner is not something I used regularly. I had got the Neutrogena Clear Pore Oil Eliminating Astringent long ago here. But I dint use it regularly for a very long time and decided to do so. I have almost finished it and here is the review.
Price: $5 (from my Walmart)
Quantity: 8 fl. oz./ 236 ml.
Salicylic acid 2% is the main ingredient
Claims: Effectively treats and helps prevent breakouts without overdrying
My experience with using the product:
I have very recently incorporated toner in my skincare routine after having a bout of acne breakouts. I had this tall bottle of toner but had never used it regularly. I can definitely see positive results with its regular use. Although it comes with a flip top cap, I have transferred this to a sanitized pump bottle for convenience. I use a cotton ball to apply this evenly all over my face. My major concern is the content of alcohol in this toner. The fumes are very strong when you are applying it on your face. It stings a wee bit but after a while of using this, you get used to it. Once it dries up, all that feeling is goes away. True to its claims, it doesn’t dry out your skin at all and I can see an improvement in my acne prone skin. It contains salicylic acid which is an effective acne treatment. I feel it pulls out the gunk from my pores. I like how it makes my skin feel especially when I use it in the summer. It keeps my skin from getting oily. Once I finish this up I will be trying other brands too and find a ‘non-fumy’ one which is as effective as this. This is good quantity that is going to last me a long time. I do like this product. If you are someone who has an oily or combination skin which is acne prone, I think you should give this product a try.
1) Makes my skin feel clean
2) Contains salicylic acid
3) Non drying
1) The strong fumes
2) The stingy sensation
Will you repurchase? If I don’t find an effective and better toner, I will come back to this.
I had picked up this face wash a while ago from the dollar store. It’s time to review this as I have almost finished up the product.
Quantity: 5.1 oz/145gms
Product Claims: Enriched with green tea and vitamin-e. I am assuming that it should contain these ingredients. It doesn’t as per the ingredient list.
My thoughts on the Product:
It is a decent face wash that comes in a gel form. It has mild to no scent. It doesn’t come across as a cheap product. It does a good job of cleansing your skin. What I really liked about the product is it doesn’t lather much meaning it doesn’t contain too much of SLS which can be a little drying on your skin. I have used this product for a really long time from the winter through the summer and noticed that it didn’t dry out my skin at all nor did it irritate or break out my skin or anything of that sort. For dollar store skincare, this one’s really good. And this tube really lasted for a very long long time. All you need is a pea size of the product. The nozzle of the tube is perfect for the texture of the product. You won’t have a wastage or spillage of any product. All in all it’s just an average product that does the job right, no high claims; nothing. You can just try this out if you are in the ‘bath products’ aisle of the dollar store. April also makes other versions of face wash and some other bath products.
1) Gel face wash
2) Doesn’t dry up the skin
3) Effective in cleaning the skin
5) No bad reactions on skin
Nothing that I can really think of!
Will you repurchase? No.. I am always trying out new products. I have already purchased another one as this is about to finish.
