Garnier clean+ nourishing cleansing oil review

I had read quite a few reviews about the Garnier oil cleanser. I was looking for a nice cleanser and I had a few coupons. So, I bought the product and tried it. I couldn’t take any pictures for this post. Read on to know why.

Price: $7.99

Quantity: 4.2 fl. oz./ 125 ml

Claims: Formula, infused with nourishing Jojoba and Macadamia Oil, helps replenish skin’s moisture balance.

In 1 use: Skin is deeply cleansed, hydrated and skin feels velvety soft.
After 1 week: 100% of women felt skin was smoother and softer.

Ingredients: Paraffinum Liquidum/Mineral Oil, Zea Mays/Corn Germ Oil, Polysorbate 85, Carthamus Tinctorius Oil/Safflower Seed Oil, Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, Sorbitan Trioleate, Simmondsia Chinensis Oil/Jojoba Seed Oil, Glycerin, Macadamia Ternifolia Seed Oil, Squalane, Parfum/Fragrance, Aqua/Water, Propylene Glycol, Tocopherol, Linalool, Pentaerythrityl Tetra-Di-T-Butyl Hydroxyhydrocinnamate, Hexyl Cinnamal, Isopropyl Myristate, Moringa Oleifera Seed Oil, Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone, Imperata Cylindrica Root Extract, Caprylyl Glycol, Carbomer, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer.

My experience with the product:

The product is a clear oil in a pump bottle. This product smells nice and somewhat like nuts. Apparently, it contains macademia nut oil. Using this product is easy just like any other cleanser. I take this product and massage onto my dry skin and then I wet my palms with warm water and continue massaging this onto my skin. The product emulsifies. And when I wash off with water, my skin feels squeaky clean. This product works great when my skin is all dry. But on the days when my skin is oily-combination to normal, I really need to use a foaming cleanser as this feels a bit greasy. I do not get this product into my eyes even by mistake as they make my eyes very sensitive. I don’t know if this can take off the eye makeup. I also like to use it when I have a heavy foundation make up on.

However, there is a small rant about this product. I store this on a wooden surface and I noticed that it had completely stained the surface. I had no idea the product was leaking because the packaging and product both are clear. For once, I thought that bottle had cracked but I went on to figure out that the pump was faulty. I pump this twice to get enough product because each time I pump, half the product oozes out of this tiny opening. I don’t know if I got a faulty piece or in general it has a flimsy pump. The bottle is sleek and I would have much rather preferred a flip top cap instead of that giant mess-making pump. I have transferred it to a mess free bottle. I didn’t hate the product nor did I like it as such but it was a severe mess.

Note: I couldn’t take any pictures at all because I had to throw away that messy bottle. But I have tried to explain that in the pic below.

  1. Suitable for dry skin
  2. Removes make up effectively

  1. Packaging is a mess, forget about it being travel friendly :/
  2. Can make the eyes very sensitive
  3. May not be suitable for normal skin types.

Ratings: 2/5 for the mess it has created

Will I repurchase? No. This was a bummer. I will much rather invest in a cream cleanser instead of this mess.

Blistex Regular Lip Balm with SPF15 review

Blistex is a US leading brand founded in 1947. Blistex manufactures, tests and distributes a full line of quality lip care products.  They have their own manufacturing and corporate headquarters complex in Oak Brook, IL. Blistex has entered the Indian market recently. It is manufactured and marketed by Elder Healthcare Ltd. in India under license from Blistex Inc., Oak Brook, IL.

Blistex lip balms are not available everywhere easily but I happened to spot this one at a local chemist.

Variant: Blistex Lip Balm Regular

Price: Rs 105

Quantity: 4.25 gms/ 0.15 oz

Blistex Pack    Blistex tube

Active Ingredients: Dimethicone, Oxybenzone, Padimate O

Blistex 2

My experience with the product.

Firstly, the packaging of the tube is flimsy and of bad quality. I usually keep a lip balm in my pocket and this tube keeps poking me  : | Secondly, this lipbalm is like any other lip balm that comes in a tube. This regular one smells and gives a cooling effect like that of Vicks vaporub, but not as strong as the vicks; much milder than Vicks. It is pinkish peach in color but is not tinted; and has no taste. It comes with SPF 15 (even other drugstore lip balms have SPF 15, nothing extraordinary!). This lip balm does not leave a whitish cast. I need to reapply it every now and then. Once this lip balm goes off from lips, my lips feel dry and stretchy; not a good feeling. I do not have very dry lips. Usually, after I apply a lip balm and the lip balm is gone from the lips, my lips feel soft and hydrated, not dry and stretchy as this one makes me feel. This product failed to impress me. It didn’t do anything great for my lips. I would rather buy a Nivea or an Avon that is easily available.

Blistex 4

  1. Has no taste
  2. Does not leave a whitish cast on lips
  3. Affordable
  4. Has SPF 15
  5. No side effects

  1. Not Available Everywhere
  2. Reapply very often
  3. Makes lips feel dry and stretchy after a while
  4. Flimsy and bad quality packaging
  5. Smells and feels like milder version of Vicks Vapourub
  6. Less staying power

Ratings: 2.8/5…

Will I Purchase? Not this one… I am turned off but I may try another one. I must not judge a brand by one product. I have read reviews of Blistex being a No 1 lip care brand in the US, but I am disappointed at the quality of the product.

P.S.: I may go to US in a while. I will definitely buy and try Blistex there. I will make a comparative review.

Avon Naturals Strawberry and Kids Swirling Strawberry Lip Balm Review

I am a hoarder of lip balms. I decided to write a review of a lip balm that I have repurchased the most. Today, I am going to review the strawberry lip balms from Avon.

Quantity:  4.7 g

Product claims: Moisturize and hydrate your lips. The mild and gentle lip balm contains strawberry extract, vitamin E, a blend of coconut and almond oils, and shea and cocoa butter. Recommended for kids aged 3 and up.

Warning:  For external use only. Keep out of reach of children under 6 except under adult supervision

Ingredients: The list is missing but the ingredients mentioned in the product claims could be the products used. Shea and cocoa butter can I have been using the product since a very long time. This has caused me no irritation or any other side effects till date.

My Experience with the product:

This was one of the first lip balms I have used apart from the Vaseline tube. Back then, this lip balm came in a tiny tub (dibba) kind of packaging. Today, these come in a twist up tube packaging which I think are hygienic, easier to use and travel friendly. This is the lip balm that I have repurchased the most.

Avon launched these 2 new variants in the beginning of the year 2013.

  1. Avon strawberry lip balm which is tinted, tasteless and mild strawberry fragrance priced Rs 99 or Rs 79 if it is on discount
  2. Avon swirling strawberry lip balm for kids which is non-tinted, strawberry flavoured that tastes sweet and moderate strawberry fragrance Rs 119 or Rs 89 if it is on discount

Prior to this, they had only one variant of strawberry lip balm which was tinted, strawberry flavored that tasted sweet and also had a  nice strawberry fragrance. Personally, I liked it a lot and Avon shouldn’t have scrapped the original strawberry lip balm. Many of my friends also like the original version and wish if we can get it back. I hope Avon is reading this.

My friend still has the original strawberry lip balm. I have snapped some pictures of those.

  1. Moisturizing property
  2. Gentle on lips
  3. Mild and yummy strawberry fragrance
  4. Reasonably priced
  5. Pretty pink tinted, not at all OTT

  1. Nothing at all except that they discontinued the original one

Ratings:  4.9/5… -0.1 for scrapping the original variant

Would I repurchase? Yes, I totally loveeee both the strawberry and the kids swirling strawberry. I would definitely repurchase both.
