My experience with the product:

The product is a clear oil in a pump bottle. This product smells nice and somewhat like nuts. Apparently, it contains macademia nut oil. Using this product is easy just like any other cleanser. I take this product and massage onto my dry skin and then I wet my palms with warm water and continue massaging this onto my skin. The product emulsifies. And when I wash off with water, my skin feels squeaky clean. This product works great when my skin is all dry. But on the days when my skin is oily-combination to normal, I really need to use a foaming cleanser as this feels a bit greasy. I do not get this product into my eyes even by mistake as they make my eyes very sensitive. I don’t know if this can take off the eye makeup. I also like to use it when I have a heavy foundation make up on.

However, there is a small rant about this product. I store this on a wooden surface and I noticed that it had completely stained the surface. I had no idea the product was leaking because the packaging and product both are clear. For once, I thought that bottle had cracked but I went on to figure out that the pump was faulty. I pump this twice to get enough product because each time I pump, half the product oozes out of this tiny opening. I don’t know if I got a faulty piece or in general it has a flimsy pump. The bottle is sleek and I would have much rather preferred a flip top cap instead of that giant mess-making pump. I have transferred it to a mess free bottle. I didn’t hate the product nor did I like it as such but it was a severe mess.

Note: I couldn’t take any pictures at all because I had to throw away that messy bottle. But I have tried to explain that in the pic below.

Likes:

  1. Suitable for dry skin
  2. Removes make up effectively

Dislikes:

  1. Packaging is a mess, forget about it being travel friendly :/
  2. Can make the eyes very sensitive
  3. May not be suitable for normal skin types.

Ratings: 2/5 for the mess it has created

Will I repurchase? No. This was a bummer. I will much rather invest in a cream cleanser instead of this mess.

Burt’s Bees Cleansing Towelettes Review

Standard

I religiously use cleansing towelette to remove my makeup. They not only remove makeup but the texture of the towelette helps clean the skin better. It contains make up remover or other cleansing ingredients that can be a big factor in the health of your skin. I got these Burt’s Bees all natural cleansing towelette in the fall Target Beauty box. I finally used these and here’s the review.

My Experience with using these:

When you first see them, you will notice that they are plain and doesn’t have any texture to them. But they are exfoliating enough to clean the skin. I use them on both sides. It has a strong scent to it. It’s a pleasant fragrance, nothing chemical like. I don’t use any makeup towelette on their own. I massage eye makeup removing cream and then wipe it off with a towelette. I do each eye one by one. Then I massage cleansing oil into my skin and then wipe it off with the towelette. Then I take a clean towelette and wipe my face and this time lips, clean. I noticed that this towelette does leave a slight oily residue. I definitely need to wash my face with a foaming face wash although it claims that it removes dirt, oil and makeup without rinsing. As I am wiping my face with these, I notice that there is a slight tingling and slightly burning sensation on my skin. But this didn’t break me out although it caused slight irritation and redness for a short while. Also, the packaging is great. It’s the ones where there is a sticky part that you lift up to take the wipe. It keeps the packet air tight when you shut them.

Likes:

  1. The packaging

Dislikes:

  1. The strong scent
  2. The tingling/ burning sensation
  3. Non-textured wipe
  4. Leaves oily residue

Rating: 2/5

Will I repurchase? No, I will not. I prefer using my Holy Grail wipes. I just used these up because I got these in a beauty box.

L’Oreal Carbon Black Mascara Review

Standard

Today I am reviewing a mascara from one of the most loved brands in the eye makeup department from the drugstore – the original ‘carbon black mascara from L’Oreal’.

My Experience with the Mascara:

I admit I have started using mascara very recently. I am not a mascara person at all. This is one of the first mascaras I have used. I have fairly long lashes. The problem I have with my lashes is that my lashes fall flat and they lashes do not hold up a curl. I knew that I did not need a lengthening mascara but needed a volumising one. When I started searching, I found that L’Oreal carbon black mascara is popular with everyone. Needless to say, I bought it on my subsequent trip to the drugstore. I had great expectations from this mascara. First of all, my lashes clump when I apply this mascara. After applying this, I literally go over with the dual ended mascara and brow brush to declump it. Secondly, it flakes. It flakes a lot and I have the flakes all over my undereye within an hour or 2 after applying. I have noticed that on the days I don’t declump this mascara, it flakes way more than usual.

On the other hand, I do like the brush. It’s a standard bristled brush. I did get a compliment from my bf when we were out one evening. He was taking my pictures and he instantly commented “you have humungous lashes.” Clearly, the mascara does a great job with volumising and it also held up the curl very well. It is really carbon black. I put some make up remover on my makeup remover towelette to take off this mascara. Also, the packaging is very sleek and easy to carry around. I have a love hate relationship with this mascara. I am not sure where the problem is. Either I don’t know how to apply a mascara or the formula has dried up.

Pros:

  1. Gives a great volume
  2. It is carbon black
  3. Standard bristled brush
  4. No sensitivity to my eyes of an sort
  5. Sleek packaging

Cons:

  1. Very flaky formula

Ratings: 3.5/5

Will you repurchase? I am going to give this another try for sure.

P.S.: I will keep this post updated.
